another night, another empty box of surprises...

ok. so its been just about forever since this journal has been active, but with all the goings on of my "sideproject" (i hate that moniker) and such, I decided it was high time to start using it again.

since we've last spoken a number of things have happened.

a.) Demerit 7 is no longer a band. All of the members have moved on to bigger and better things. Tyler and Austin have been playing some stuff together and its sounding awesome so keep your eye out for that. Camron is doing his part to save the scene and helping put on shows. Also dabbling in the management and business side of the industry. And as you'll read later, I've been hard at work on a solo project that will eventually blow you away.

b.) me and mary broke up. its weird to even bring that up in this context, but she's been all over this journal and i don't feel like having to delete 4353245 comments asking about it. so don't ask.

c.) i got a new computer. it is more amazing than life itself.

d.) i'm now clinically addicted to pepsi and beef jerky.

e.) i have a studio in my dining room now that lets me make music any time i want. (yes, its that awesome.) but if someone wants to buy me an electronic drum set (for my apartment) that'd be great. 1, 2, 3, go.

f.) (why the hell am i using letters for this list?) i've started playing piano more and i'm loving it with every new day. i'm getting better and starting to realize why i loved it in the first place.

g.) and finally, i've started a new music project called "The Story Of A Boy" its me. all me. and its amazing. i figured out that if its a "solo" project then i can make any kind of music i want. i could write a country/rap song if i really felt like it. i won't. but i could.

The rest of this entry will explain The Story Of A Boy the best I can, I implore you to read it and let me know what you think. Its a little hard to explain to someone who doesn't really know me personally but I'll do my best.

For the confused in the audience, its like this:

Girls can be REALLY lame.

Music can be really good.

Put the two together and you've got 85% of all good music ever written.

I'm making this music for me, and me alone. If someone else happens to benefit from it, or enjoy listening then that's awesome.

This is me trying to get my thoughts out there in the only way I really know how.

The album is tentatively called "The Story." (As such because it will tell the story of one of the greastest romances/heartbreaks of all time.)

Here's an (EXTREMELY TENTATIVE) tracklisting (As of today, it will probably look totally different every 48 hours):

"The Story"

- The Beginning (We Might As Well Have Founded New Jersey)
- Daniel (It's Amazing How Much Of My Life Has Been Determined By A Quarter Inch Piece Of Plastic)
- Three Small Words (Eight Letters, Three Words, One Mistake)
- Ben (I Hate To Have To Cut The Fun Short, But The Joke's Wearing Thin)
- Russell (Congratulations, You Finally Brought Down The Eiffel Tower)
- Jessica (It's Never Too Late To Become What I Know You Could Have Been)
- Aaron Pt. 1 (It's Amazing What You Can Do When You Put Your Heart In To It...)
- Aaron Pt. 2 (I'm Not Sure Which Feels Worse, Sleeping With You Or You Sleeping With Him)
- Aaron Pt. 3 (Andrew McMahon, Please Don't Sue Me)
- Lauren (Let's All Take A Crash Course In Keeping Secrets)
- Aaron Pt. 4 (2 Years Vs. 2 Days, You Make The Call...)
- The End (TBA)

And for those who don't already know you can check out some of the new music over at http://myspace.com/thestoryofaboy & http://purevolume.com/thestoryofaboy. some of which has drawn its inspiration from this very journal.

If you're creepy enough you may find some of the lyrics buried in the posts here. But don't do that, it'd be boring. and I'd feel bad for you being so bored.

Also, the idea right now (in my head) is to release this cd as a package called "The Story" which would include the cd, some literature by yours truly and possibly some other entertainment media (video?).

I've got a plan, a promise and a sleeve full of tricks...

I guess that will do it for now. Leave me your thoughts, concerns, opinions, etc. and I'll get back to you.

-a

P.S. - If anyone knows what channel the play all the old GOOD nick at nite shows on please let me know. I'm sick of watching 378327 hours of Cosby a night...

Kris Roe just changed my life...

OK, i just saw one of the most amazing shows in my entire life. Kris and John from The Ataris are touring around the country playing acoustic shows to promote their cd which they just finished recording. They are playing small clubs to small audiences and the shows are turning out to have a real personal feel to them. (So I heard) I hate to be cliché, but OH EM GEE! I was standing literally a foot and a half away from one of the men who made me want to play music for the rest of my life. It was like a pilgrimage for me. I know this sounds a little lame, and it would be probably be impossible to explain to anyone how I feel right now. The best part was hearing Kris talk about the stories behind the songs and explain why he couldn't bare to play the songs which he'd written originally for his (now) ex-wife anymore. It was simply amazing. I also learned the story behind one of my favorite Ataris' song: Teenage Riot. Turns out Kris wrote about Denton! and about a crazy night playing at Rubber Gloves, the very club they played at tonight. So needless to say, it was an amazing night. After the show I got to talk to him for a bit, (Him and John both signed my sidekick) where he proceeded to write his name, a heart, and the type of liquor he was currently totally wasted on) I am so happy that I was able to be there, see that, hear those songs in that way. It was unexplainable. Thank you for listening-

-a

p.s. mary: i'm deleting adam from TBS and adding Kris Roe ;)

Ok so here's the deal. In 1996 Taco Bell stopped "pre-cutting" their mexican pizzas into 4 slices and instead began delivering them as 1 giant circular lump. Anyone who knows me knows that I feel this was a huge oversight on the part of Taco Bell's consumer relations department. Basically I have been distraught ever since BUT today- January 5th, 2006 I ordered a mexican pizza from my local Taco Bell and to my complete amazement and surprise I opened my meal to reveal a PRECUT MEXICAN PIZZA! I know to many of you this entire post may seem ridiculous but I've waited ten years for this. My childhood was filled with wonderful pre-cut fast food wonders. And now I've got it back. I couldn't be happier. To amuse and entertain you and also to further solidify my nerdom I've included an image (taken with my new sidekick 2) below the cut ;)

sloppier than it used to be, but cut nonetheless <3

this is enough

Ok this is enough, for a few months now, the Music Publishers' Association or "MPA" have been taking down guitar tab and lyric websites. David Israelite, president of the National Music Publishers' Association, expressed his so-called "concerns" by saying: "Unauthorised use of lyrics and tablature deprives the songwriter of the ability to make a living, and is no different than stealing..." This is insane. Since when has it been illegal for musicians to learn to play each other's songs?

Another issue that hits pretty close to home with me is that of a piece of software called "PearLyrics." All this software did was allow you to easily search for song lyrics for whatever song you were currently playing on your computer or any song you wish really. But the higher-ups somehow confused this with violating some sort of law and had the small programmer behind PearLyrics shut down. Keep in mind that all the program did was search websites that were already on the internet and give that information to the user in a readable, manageable way.

A Warner Chappell statement said the company wanted to ensure songwriters were "fairly compensated for their works and that legitimate sites with accurate lyrics are not undermined by unlicensed sites".

Organizations like Warner Chappell and the MPA have pushed this too far. They have taken a simple battle for monetary profit off artistic works and turned into a global war against information freedom. If we, the netizens, music nerds, and users of the internet allow this type of thing to go on any longer, we will be facing a situation no different then when you tried to wear you favorite t-shirt with the words "BUCK FUSH" on it into your 9th grade science class and were promptly asked to leave. The internet is freedom, that has always been its purpose and idea. That we, the people of the world, could control how and when we get information. I'm almost amazed when I hear stories like this of small companies and websites that work REALLY hard to provide quality content getting shut down because some corporate figure head decided it would make him look good. These types of sites are NOT the reason your industry is losing money. The reason you're losing money is because you're spending all of your time trying to stop the inevitable.

i just went sledding at my apartment complex. it was simply amazing. the craziest thing: we weren't alone. there were definently about 10 other groups of people out trying to do it. i think we all got a little banged up in the process and taking the "sleds" down the stairs probably wasn't a good idea either but oh well. We went out with 4 sleds, we came back with 2 still in-tact. message of the day: "if you're going to use the iced over "hills" at your apartment complex for some wintertime fun, make sure that you have surveyed the area for rocks, trees, and drunks before you attempt anything..."

posting entries from the bathtub is fun. i emplore you all to try it. however, if you somehow electricute yourself or fry your laptop in the process, i deny responsibility ;). i guess i really don't have anything to say. i'm tired but not sleepy. mixtape number two is almost done uploading so look out for that later on today. i'm downloading the green day live dvd "bullet in a bible" and its taking forever. if anyone has seen it and would like to let me know if its worth it, please feel free. i'm watching friends right now, i haven't done that in a while so all the episodes sound sort of new. when you use your powerbook in the bathtub and the water begins to drain you quickly realize how naked, wet and soapy you are. just a tip. well i'm going to try and get some more hot water in the tub, its getting a little chilly. love love love.

MH Mixtape 002: "I Bought Too Much Ammo, Now My Wagon Is Too Heavy And I'll Never Make It To Oregon"

Here goes round two of the migraineheartache. mixtapes. series, I've fallen in love with the process and I'll probably be posting quite a few more in the future. This one has a couple of notes: First, the title should be attributed to my good friend Kira. This is because she'll probably try and eat me if I claim it as my own. Second, the story: this one is a little on the fun side and represents the songs I like to listen to when I'm in that "silly", "I'm An Outlaw" kind of a mood. Another note, I had to use another server on this one so please disregard where the files are hosted.

“I Bought Too Much Ammo, Now My Wagon Is Too Heavy And I'll Never Make It To Oregon”

its late and i'm up

It is currently 5:17 AM. I'm still awake and slightly at a loss for things to do. I think I'm officially bored with the internet. (I'm sure I'll find stumble upon some video of dancing cats or a JPEG statue of jesus giving the thumbs up that will serve to re-intice me soon) Anyways, I've been working on so many things lately. I've been working on starting my own business for the first time. I've also been writing a LOT lately. I have now however been focusing on school as much as I should be. (insert gratuitous sigh here) The band has also been doing well. This week marks our first "week off" in a long time. And next week things start back up again. So I'm taking the time to try and get things rolling with my software company. I'm also in the design phase of a new website that is going to blow everyone away. (hint: the scene is coming) Well I'm off to try and keep myself busy enough to stay awake long enough to make it to class in a few hours. (wish me luck)

your favorite photo op,
a

baby this nation's history...

this is the story of a boy
wake up, 8 AM and thirty, spend 15 minutes glorifying ignorance,
he'll have his daily migraineheartache, another teenage tragedy
let's burn it all down, lets start over, baby this nation's history...
Its a bit much I know, from "lets" to "so go!" so set it on fire and leave me be...

Hey there everyone, I just wanted to give you guys an update about the album and all. Cam's been in the studio doing some crazy mix-down, mastering, and general "put the cherry on top" type stuff. We are probably still about a month out from an actual release. In that time, we are still trying to get all the album art and such cemented in place. That's where you come in: Find yourself bored and in need of an afternoon project and have an idea that you think would look rad somewhere in the packaging for our new cd? Then go on and draw it, photoshop it, paint shop it, ms paint it (maybe not ms paint) or whatever'd you like it, and send it over to demerit7@gmail.com We'd love to see it. Now we can't exactly pay you, but your work would be seen just about everywhere we are ;) The EP is also still as of yet untitled, so the floor is pretty much open, but to help you out, I decided to post up some lyrics for people to go off of. Also feel free just about anything you want right here in the comments. (by the way this goes for any kind of design you feel inclined to make: stickers, t-shirts, icons, coffee mugs, edible underwear, temporary tattoos, etc.)

p.s. - if you have any idea where we can get a bunch of those metal needles that go inside the quote "1 inch buttons" unquote we paid way too much for, please do let us know ;)
p.p.s - i love you all, but only in that funny music way <3

Here goes some lyrics after the cut-

"Blind Faith"

I mean no disrespect
but with all these options
how are you so content

Wher eare you're questions
it makes no sense to me
you find it so easy to believe

Beat Me
Break Me
Leave me for dead

On this
Alter
Where you lay your head

Beat Me
Break Me
Leave me to die

Are you
Afraid to
Simply ask why?

These times are so confused
but so am I
you've got no reason to abuse

Can blind faith be called ignorance
Im as dumb as you
My blindfold is just removed

Its good to hold on
but what if you were wrong
would ity matter much to you
I'm not in Defiance
not in Denial
what are you thinking behind that smile?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Good Friends (Are Hard To Find)"

Hello goodbye my very best friend
This could be our end
Tomorrow's not another day
The sun might rise
but I won't see it form 6 ft. underground...

Because they all say good friends are hard to find
I don't know anybody, I would rather die beside than you.

They say good friends are hard to find.
If you wanna kill me that's just fine
Just gimme some time to get my life in line.

I'm lying bloody on the floor
My heart beats no more
Your words like bullets to my brain
The sun might rise
but you won't see it from 6 ft. underground...

It was never like you
To be outdone
But nothing says your sorry like a loaded gun

Lying in the ground
Would be just fine
Just as long as I’ve got my shit in line…

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hit Me With A Shovel (Because I Can’t Believe I Ever Dug You)”

Its too bad that I could never say I loved you
Too bad that I could never say I cared
Too bad that I could never trust
cuz being right is something we'll never share

Its too bad that I
could never say I loved you SO GO
write your letter on apiece of notebook
papercut my heart wide open your eyes
I've got 41 wishes and they're all for the same thing
(they're all about me you)

Well as your driving home
underneath that bridge make SURE YOU
unfasten your seat
belt out the words that you said to me
and you were never meant to be yourself maybe then, this will end
(Maybe I can move on)

Its too bad me and you never TOLD THE
truth hurts this will be the last song that I will write about you

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Bleeding Ears, Broken Hearts"

We're sick and we're tired of all the lovers and liars,
first and last chances and the matchbook romances

All your best kept secrets all your biggest mistakes,
they're all the same and we're not... gunna... wait...

Turn off the radio we've got something to say
and we couldn't do it any other way

But with clever, clever lines with words that play
with your heart strings with which you're gunna hang

We're sick
And we're tired
of bleeding ears and broken hearts

We take back all those words we never should have said,
we've dug for them a grave filled with regret

All the timebomb's and girls like you,
high schools over, let's change that point of view...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"3/4"

You move me around, turn me inside out
the whole time i kept my feet on ground
now the role's are turned around for my last year
three-fourth's of us stayed in this little town
18 years have gone by and you say your done
can you hate my soul enough to say goodbye

18 years, all is over
you just sit around a cry
all you ever did was talk down to me
you made wanna die

you said to me
we're family
that means a lot
considering

the things you done
to me your
to me your
only son

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Part Two”

I've been living in this darkness for so long. There's gotta be something done.
Can't explain the way I feel, never felt it before, that must mean that you're the one.

My heart is screaming out, I'm just surprised you can't hear it from here.

I've tried 100 times to write this song,
But every time I tried, you guessed it, it came out wrong.

This song's so incomplete, there's so much left to say.
Will your passive aggressiveness turn me to clay?

your mouth is just a place where our kisses go to die...

You know you're so cute, when you pour your heart out to me,
and even more when you hold your breath waiting for me to fall to pieces

so we go into the studio tomorrow, or today rather. i'm looking forward to it so much but i'm pretty nervous about the whole thing. i just want the EP to turn out the way i hear it in my head. (good) i think we're going to try and do five songs for sure and seven if we can really push it. here's a list (in no order at all):

---
Good Friends (Are Hard To Find)
Blind Faith
Part Two
3/4
Hit Me With A Shovel (Because I Can't Believe I Ever Dug You)

Part One
The "Bleeding Ears, Broken Hearts" Song (we haven't thought of a cute little title just yet)
---

we'll probably get in there and throw out almost everything and start over, it seems to work well for us. but in all seriousness this EP is going to be light years ahead of anything we've ever done so i'm really stoked about it. we'll be posting the first few mixes/demos/hotdogs/etc on myspace and purevolume and such as soon as we get them roughed out. and i'm thinking about making one of those really trendy 'progress board' things to keep me busy while i'm just sitting around for 4 hours (yay) oh and we finally got some word about the buttons we ordered forever ago, turns out button man's computer crashed and that made it hard for him to reply to our email(s). but all is well now and they should be arriving soon. we'll most likely be whoring them out as a pack of 4 (different designs) for $2. we'll probably sell them off our myspace page and i'll post the usual shameless plugs about to our webstore and whatnot. don't worry we're doing our very worst not to try at all. i was listening to the cure today. i really forgot how cool they actually are. even though I feel kind of guilty for liking them because when they were around i couldn't even walk yet. although props to robert smith for still staying strong and releasing that new album last year. i tried to ride a skateboard today. wow. i immediately regretted that decision.

i just love the way you make me nervous
and i love the way you make me scared
you know, all in all i guess you're perfect
that must be why you never...

>> so i'm in a really nerdy mood, and i got another lame idea, it'd be rad if some people posted a screenshot of their desktop in the comments, mines below this cut:

unfasten your seat belt, because good friends are just so hard to find...

This will be a letter that I'll never send,
It willl be the start, but you’ll be the end-

i love how trendy <strike>sOmE tHiNgS</strike> become. the crazy part of it all is that being unpredictable has become even more trendy than being trendy. its like the new old is the old new. we've got to do something soon before being fake becomes being real and how real you are becomes determined by a [myspace] poll. live. love. regret. or dont. no big deal. you know that feeling you get in your stomach when you're about to kiss a girl for the first time? imagine feeling that ALL the time. <3 i think its great we can all express ourselves with mathematical combination of symbols. <3

don't worry, i'm doing my best to be as predictable as possible-

here's one:

>> what are three songs, that when you listen to them, the rest of the world completely disappears, and all you feel is exactly what the person who wrote them did?

mine:

1.) Something Corporate - Konstantine
2.) Fall Out Boy - My Heart Is The Worst Kind Of Weapon
3.) Brand New - Seventy Times Seven

lemme know yours-

the phone rings i hear the sound of you
making your best effort not to try at all,
i'll put my best foot behind me
so it can be there to catch you when you fall...
